Deadly sweetness

So, as not to be out done (with my beast from the bottom). Dominique shot her first black bear Memorial Day weekend. This picture is the proof. It is hard to see, but not only is she posing with her kill, but she has a cute pink flower in her hair to boot. How sweet! ...and deadly.

If it were up to you...Farve would be back

The voters have decided. Thanks for taking the survey about Farve coming back. Here are the results...
75% of you said he should return to the Packers (only 50% as starter)
25% of you said 'hit the road'

Personally, I can't wait to see him in the Super Bowl next year wearing his green and yellow #4. Go Pack!

The Beast from the Bottom

I went on a fantastic trip to Prince of Wales Island this past weekend for a pastor's retreat. From Ketchikan it was a 3 hour ferry ride, 2 hour drive, (another) 1 hour boat ride to get to Edna Bay, Alaska. Edna Bay is one of the most remote and beautiful areas of Southeast Alaska. Part of our experience was to go fishing, and boy did we go fishing! Lots of red snapper and the beast from the bottom (halibut). I caught the biggest fish I have ever caught. I seriously thought I snagged the bottom. But when the bottom began taking all my line, I knew the fight was on. 25 minutes later, you can see what came up. It weighted 127 lbs! The guy helping me hold up this halibut is Pastor Paul Radford who is doing the summer preaching at Clover Pass Community Church.

Pastor Mike Ash from Coffman Cove came away with a huge red snapper. It was a great fishing trip but even better trip hanging out with Alaskan pastors who are serving in some very remote places. Places where the waters are deep and the fish are big.

Our time in Uganda, Africa

For those who don't know. My oldest son, Noah, and I spent two weeks in Uganda, Africa in June. It was a wonderful trip, to say the least. We were helping on a medical mission trip serving two orphan villages, one in the village of Seeta and the other in the town of Lira. We learned a lot and came away wanting to go back. The pics in the slide show of the previous post are from our trip. We will be posting more pictures and thoughts, but for now, the slide show will do. Enjoy.
